About Blanca R. Hindle

I'm Blanca R. Hindle. For more than twenty years, I've worked in schools, first in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the third-largest school district in the United States, and then in international schools in the United Arab Emirates. At heart, I'm a humanist; a school leader by training. I have always questioned how education works and have never been fully satisfied with what I’ve found.  As a mother of three children, I aim to create spaces where young people feel safe and seen.

My career has been driven by the desire to answer this question: how do you build a school where children and the adults who teach them both do their best work? The pursuit of that answer has led me to leadership, instructional design, and, as of late, the future of learning.

The work I do

I served as the Principal of Clarion School in Dubai. During my tenure, I led an exceptional team of educators committed to continuous school improvement. My focus was on teacher development, rethinking instructional design, expanding experiential STEAM learning, meeting the diverse needs of students (neurotypical and neurodiverse alike), and building the systems that hold it all together. Inspiration can spark innovation, but a strong idea fades quickly unless the vision, teaching, assessment, and professional learning behind it are aligned.

In recent months, my focus has broadened. This September, I formally step into the role of Head of Education Futures and Innovation, where my job is to help schools prepare for a world none of us can fully predict and to help the educators within them think about it clearly.

What I believe

Truly good schools put the needs of their stakeholders at the forefront of operations. The leadership trusts their teachers and provides them with opportunities for growth. They treat students as individuals rather than merely seeing them as a name on the register or a test score. Equally important to academics is the character development children undergo, as they develop a sense of autonomy, self, sound judgment, and genuinely enjoy learning. We know that technology will continue to challenge what’s possible. What endures is the human part, the relationships and sense of belonging that hold a school community together. 

Philosophically, I subscribe to a servant-leadership mindset and try to pair a clear sense of direction with genuine empathy. My graduate work was in Educational Leadership and Sociology, and that mix is probably why I've never seen a school as simply a place where lessons happen. It's a community, and it behaves like one.

Why this site exists

I built Principal Blanca Dubai to put that thinking somewhere useful.

If you're a parent, I want to make the UAE's education system feel less overwhelming. Ratings, curricula, fees, inclusion, admissions: I've worked inside all of it, and I'll tell you how it really works, without the sales pitch.

If you're a teacher or a school leader, I'd like to exchange ideas with you about the craft of teaching, the slow work of improving a school, and where it's headed.

Whatever brought you here, I promise to keep the writing honest and grounded in evidence. My goal is to serve as a guide, helping you find answers or come up with more questions about what’s next for education.
